The legal-insurance provider has seen a recent punitive award against the company derail its plans to borrow $160 million, intended primarily for stock repurchases. Buying back stock has helped the company fend off the advances of short-sellers, who bet a stock will decline by borrowing the stock, selling it and then seeking to buy it back later at a lower price.

Controversy Over New MLM Company In The Philippines

ENVIRONMENT Secretary Michael Defensor has taken to heart President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo?s standing order to create business opportunities for the Filipino.

But his being a Cabinet secretary has raised questions of propriety.

MLM Herbalife says secondary offer priced

Herbalife Ltd., which sells diet aids and nutritional supplements, said Tuesday that some of its shareholders will sell 11.5 million common shares at $30.50 apiece in a public offering.

The selling price is a slight discount to Herbalife's closing price of $30.59 on the New York Stock Exchange Tuesday.

Herbalife also said it has granted Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley an overallotment option to buy another 1.5 million shares.


Shares of Herbalife rose 46 cents to $31.05 in premarket trading.

Avon to manage China as a stand-alone business unit - Forbes.com

US cosmetics company Avon Products Inc said it will manage its operations in China as a stand-alone business to reflect the country's long-term growth potential and strategic importance to the company.

In a statement, Avon said it will also manage Central and Eastern Europe as a stand-alone business unit, increasing the number of the company's geographic regions -- which it calls 'commercial business units' -- to six.

China lifted its ban on door-to-door marketing on Dec 1, allowing companies like Avon, Amway, Nu Skin, and Herbalife to conduct direct sales in the country for the first time since 1998.

MLM Amway In India

Amway India, the country?s leading direct marketing company, has set a growth target of over 10 per cent for 2005-06 fiscal (September 1-August 31). Its turnover has gone up to Rs 633 crore in 04-05 from Rs 91 crore in 1998-99.

Over a period of next 12 months, Amway India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the $6.4 billion Alticor Inc, one of the largest direct selling companies in the world, will launch 14 new products. Most of them will be in the nutrition & wellness and cosmetics categories. It will launch shortly a weight management product, existing in many other countries.

Adressing a press conference here today Sandip Misra, associate vice-president (operation) Amway India, a wholly owned subsidiary of us company alticor INC, said that according to the latest data available with the Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) the industry registered an impressive growth of 18 per cent during 2004-05 taking the total size of the buisness to Rs 2700 crore.

The number of people involved also grew to 1.32 million from 1.25 million in 2003-04.

MLM Company Amway In India

Students of IIM Lucknow got a ringside view of the model of direct selling from the foremost industry expert in the field.
