Latest MLM Fad - Fuel Additives

The latest edition of Len Clements' "MarketWave Alert" (#61) has some details of legal action against MLM company Bioperformance. The press release issued by the Texas Attorney General is here.

Len goes on to comment about what seems to be the latest MLM fad, fuel additives.

It's always a fascinating coincidence to watch how these breakthrough fuel technologies that dramatically increase mileage are only discovered by small start up MLM companies, and only when gas prices dramatically rise. You would think that with their multimillion dollar annual R&D budgets, state-of-the-art technology, and best scientific and engineering minds in the world at their disposal, not to mention the multibillion dollar market potential (if such a product would actually work), companies like Ford, GM or Toyota would be coming up with these fuel additives and devices. It's also interesting that the last wave of gas gadgets and additives that broke on the shores of the MLM industry was back in the early 90s - when gas prices skyrocketed to a whopping $1.40 a gallon! (Hard to believe we were angry about that back then, isn't it?). The wave before that came in the late 70s, when I'm sure us Boomers will recall waiting in long lines at the gas station, on odd or even numbered days (depending on the last digit of your license plate).

He concludes with this...

Here is my prediction: By May of 2008 every fuel related MLM company operating today will either have radically overhauled their product line (deemphasizing the flagship fuel product) or they won't be operating at all. I'm basing this on solid information from an extremely reliable source.

History.
