Adressing a press conference here today Sandip Misra, associate vice-president (operation) Amway India, a wholly owned subsidiary of us company alticor INC, said that according to the latest data available with the Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) the industry registered an impressive growth of 18 per cent during 2004-05 taking the total size of the buisness to Rs 2700 crore.

The number of people involved also grew to 1.32 million from 1.25 million in 2003-04.

Mr Misra said the idsa data shows that direct selling business was fast becoming a favourite among Indian women. As many as 60 per cent of all business people in this industry were women.
